Day 1: Casablanca – Azrou – Middle Atlas Mountains – Midelt

The 5 Days Desert Tour From Casablanca will start from your accommodation in Casablanca economic city and the largest in Morocco. We will drive forward to our next destination Meknes which is well known as one of the four imperial cities of Morocco founded by the Almoravids dynasty in the 11th century, located in the north where it has a strategic position in the heart of the country. In Meknes, we are going to visit many sights such as the big gate of Bab Mansour designed by sultan Moulay Ismail in the bustling Lahdim square and we will walk or drive to our coming site is Habs Qara “ Qara Prison ” built in an underground labyrinth that could host thousands of inmates. After your delicious Moroccan lunch, you are going to continue visiting the rest of the sights with a local guide:
• Grand Mosque of Meknes: the oldest and one of the most important mosques in Meknes, it is based in the center of the old medina and was founded by the Almoravids in the 12th century. Furthermore, the mosque had an extensive financial and religious section because it contained the main Souq streets.
• Madrasa Bou Inania in Meknes: Madrasa means school for higher learning in Islamic science established through the Marinid period by Sultan Abu Al Hasan. Today the school “Madrasa” is not just a place for practicing religion, but it also is open for tourists.
• Nejjarine Mosque in Meknes: Considered as an old mosque in the historic city of Meknes, it was built during the Almoravid period in the 12th century AD. In 1996 the mosque was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
• Lalla Aouda Mosque in Meknes: Found in the Marinid era in 1276, Lalla Aouda refers to Lalla Masuda Waliya (Saint), the mother of Sultan Ahmad Al Mansour Saadi. The mosque has been massively shrouded by the cause of the Alaouite Sultan Moulay Ismail’s big construction projects in the late 17th century as part of a new imperial city in Meknes.
Our journey will continue to Azrou, is located in the southern area of Morocco known for its cedar grove forest a place where one of the sub-populations of the Barbary Macaque monkeys has found. You will have a chance to take marvelous pictures of the Barbary monkeys and to have a walk in the forest. Afterward, we will continue our trip by driving via cedar forest and many Berber villages and enjoying the landscapes and the spectacular road. We then reach the city of Midelt, where we will have dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Midelt – Rich – Ziz Valley – Erfoud ( Fossils’s City ) – Merzouga Desert ( Camel Ride )

After an early morning in the middle Atlas Mountains with a great breakfast at your hotel/riad, our second day of The 5 Days Desert Tour From Casablanca will start by leaving Midelt and heading south towards Merzouga located in the Sahara desert. On our way to the Sahara desert, we will visit many sites and notice how the landscape changes to reveal hints of the desert. After a stop in Rich town, we will travel through the charming Tizi N’talghamt canyon and the Ziz valley where you can see views of the High Atlas plateau. Moreover, we will drive past beautiful palm trees till we reach the Hassan Addakhil Dam near the city of Errachidia. We continue our journey to Merzouga by passing through the gorgeous Ziz Valley—where we will have a stop for its marvelous panoramic view on the road to Erfoud and Rissani.
Afterward, we will continue to the Khamlia village, which is 7 km away from Merzouga, to have Berber Pizza for lunch, later on, if you are interested, you may listen to the Gnawa songs sung and played by the dark-skinned Gnawi people who migrated to this area over 100 years ago. The Gnawa keep their culture and traditions going through this music, which they are associated with. We then drive back to Merzouga to have our Berber whisky “Mint Tea” before starting your camel ride to explore the golden Sahara desert with its magnificent views of sand dunes. Just as you approach your overnight desert camp, you will stop for a sunset view on the top of a sand dune, which will be one of the highlights of your trip. After your dinner at the desert camp, you will have a chance to listen to and play the local Berber music with your hosts.

Day 3: Merzouga Dunes Tour ; Touring Around Sahara ( Erg-Chebbi)

This morning after breakfast, we will pick you up from your Desert camp by Jeep 4X4 is the best way to explore the Erg Chebbi and famous places around Merzouga Sahara. On the jeep desert tour, we will visit a nomadic family close to your camp who still lives a nomadic life and take a cup of tea with them. We will continue the journey into the black desert (volcanic stones) and have a stop at a mountain with a panoramic view, It will be our first stop in the black desert before we continue to the Mifis Village, an old village built by the French during the colonization also known as the mines village due to the mineral mines where some Moroccan people still work on the active mines.
Besides, we will continue our journey to Khamlia village will stop to visit a car museum on the way to Merzouga. Once we arrive at Khamlia, we’ll have the opportunity to listen and enjoy the Gnawa music played by local people originally from the Soudan, Mali, and other Sub-Saharian countries. Then we continue to the Merzouga Lake (A seasonal lake) destination of popular migration birds when the lake is full of water. We can skip the visit to the lake when it’s dry. In addition, the next place is Hassi Labied oasis, a garden beside the dunes. The garden managing by the people of the village and discover how the people get the water from the sand dunes to the oasis using a traditional irrigation system. You will have overnight in Merzouga riad/hotel.

Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani – Errachidia – Midelt – Meknes (Imperial City)

The day will be started by dating with the sunrise in a panoramic view that is worth waking up for after your breakfast at camp you will have two options to drive back from your desert camp to Merzouga Sahara, which is to come back by camels or by Jeep 4X4. And then, we leave Merzouga after a great lifetime experience in the Sahara desert, driving toward Rissani is the ancient capital of Tafilalet which was a principal road of caravans, and considered as a commercial center in the region with a large market “Souk” where you will take a chance to connect and to interact with locals.

Day 5: Meknes – Volubilis – Rabat – Casablanca

Chellah, our coming site in Rabat, is one of the most beautiful and peaceful Moroccan ruins. Chellah is an ancient ruin of a Roman city and a Merenid necropolis. Besides that, we will visit the Hassan Mosque, which is considered the most famous landmark in Rabat and one of the most ambitious of all Almohad buildings, as well visiting The Palace Museum and Mohamed V Mausoleum. Later on, we leave Rabat, driving to Casablanca. It will take 1 hour 30 minutes to reach Casablanca.
